If you are going to keep your vehicle for awhile and you change your own oil, this is a real time saver and installs very easly. I have them on both my cars and love it. No worrys about leaks and like I said saves time and is less messy.

I fitted one of these valves on my Toyota Sienna, mainly because I always drop the oil plug nut into the pan that I'm draining oil into. I thought this would be a cleaner, easier way to go. Well, its cleaner - you can put an oil jug right under the valve, and it'll go right in.
However, the hole in the valve is so small, that the flow coming out is a mere trickle. I left it for 10 minutes and less than half a quart had come out. It is, literally, a trickle. There's no way I was going to wait for all 6.4 quarts to drain out. Granted, this was on a chilly Sunday morning in December, so perhaps the oil was a bit thick (but in the Bay Area, CA, that still means 40f, we're not talking Arctic circle temps). Eventually I removed the valve (dropping it into the catch pan, obviously), and the oil drained in the normal couple of minutes. I put the drain valve into a zip-lock bag, labelled it for the benefit of future generations, and dumped it into the bottom drawer of my toolbox.
If you regularly take oil samples (i.e draw off small amounts of oil), or if you need to attach a hose to a hard-to-reach oil plug, this item would be perfect. However, for normal duty in a normal car, it is not suitable.
I give it two stars, the extra one because its well made. But in general I feel that its thoroughly unnecessary for the greater driving public, and they need to know about it.

No, this is not cheap - it is very high quality and excellent in its design. What a time saver! The valve locks in place and cannot open accidentaly. You will love the freedom from unscrewing an oil pan bolt and trying not to lose the sealing washer.
