Okay, so it's a little difficult to put together, but it works so well (small pond, lots of flower petals, small leaves, etc.) that I would like to give everybody some helpful hints.
First, the motor comes with its bowl threaded onto the wire. Look in the bowl & you will find ridges that mark the proper placement of the motor. The motor and the motor bowl are not symmetrical, so if it doesn't fit one way, turn it 180 degrees. The wire will exit the bottom of the bowl through the funny, weird-shaped hole, without hitting anything. You will need to hold this assembly together for the next step.
Next, disassemble the filter, just take off the pieces until there's just one left, the filter bowl. This is easier than it sounds. Place the empty filter bowl on a table upside down. Then invert the motor-motor bowl assembly and place it on top, remembering neither bowl is symmetrical. Push the motor intake opening though the hole in the filter bowl and match tabs on the motor bowl to slots on the filter bowl. It helps to have a third hand for this, preferably someone who is not argumentative.
The thing is together now. Turn it upright, drop in the filter pad, filter basket and covering ring thingy, and click the floats into their slots. Put it in the water, push it down to fill, plug it in, and reward yourself with lemonade the way you like it.

this item came with no instructions at all. I called the company any they could tell me nothing. Once i got it together it works well. If it breakes i have no idea were i would get it replaced if there is any warranty.

We finally received our koolscapes floating skimmer Tuesday..The skimmer came with out instructions, as others stated..But..it was partially assembled, and wasn't as hard as some had stated to put together. A couple of snaps and set it in the pond. Works good, have to clean the basket out everyday, but that is a lot better then standing out there with a skimmer net, and trying to get all the debrie out .. so I think it was a good investment.. I would recommend this product to others.. the only thing I have to say is that it took three days for them to just process my order, I didn't like that.. but otherwise I am happy with this purchase
