I'm very pleased with this monitor. Like all monitors of this type, the best image quality is produced in its native display resolution; I found this one wonderfully sharp at 1920x1080. I didn't even have to install any software or change any Windows settings when using this to replace a Dell monitor that had failed.
For people with special visual needs, or even those who simply like to fine tune the display to suit their taste, the clear and easy-to-use menus allow detailed adjustment of brightness, contrast, sharpness, tint and more. The factory settings were too bright for me, but it was easy to tone them down. So many LCD monitors display more dimly at the top than bottom, but this one does not suffer from that problem, and instead provides a highly uniform brightness and contrast.
The factory settings yielded a slightly red tinted image, but that also was easy to tweak via the menu's independent adjustments for Red, Green and Blue level. The front panel LEDs that show "power on" are of high intensity, but those too can be adjusted via the menus. I'm impressed with the image quality, and am very happy with this purchase.

I purchased this monitor in Jan and with in three months had to have a replacement sent to me. The screen went completely black. Have had the replacement about a month and the color is all distorted on it. This is a crappy monitor and the company itself is not good to deal with. After two bad monitor in less than 4 months I want a refund and the only thing they are willing to do is send me another crappy monitor. I will never purchase another HP product.

HP S2331a 23-inch Diagonal LCD Monitor - Black:
I needed a new monitor as my old one decided to quit working. I went out to the electronics stores to price a new monitor and I came across the HP S2331a. Amazon says it's a pre-order, but the electronics store had plenty and at a cost far below what Amazon is asking for either the 2331 or 2331a even with sales tax included. So, if you are looking for a monitor check around and get the best price for your area.
I was impressed by the resolution, color, and clarity of the picture on this monitor. Granted, it's plug-and-play, but you need to tweak the computer settings on the control panel of your computer operating system to get the best settings for your preference. Next, the menu setting on the monitor will clear up any small tweaking that needs to be done, if any.
I went to HP's website and downloaded any current updates that were available for this monitor and it works great. I don't see the problems encountered by the other reviewers. It could be their computer systems causing the problems or graphics cards and they're blaming the monitor, who knows for sure. I have a great picture and the graphics play well on the monitor. DVD's and Blu-ray disc's are playable on my computer and the screen has great clarity with both as well as HDTV comes in great.
This is a very recyclable monitor no arsenic in the glass used for this non-glare screen.
I know what I see and this is a great clear screen. This is a solid 5 stars and the pollution of recycling a used piece of computer equipment is very low with the HP S2331a.
